چکیده

Abstract Background Cancer is one of the most considerable concerns because increasing death rate all over world. Recent studies have disclosed that plant extracts exhibit anticancer activity through various mechanisms. Xanthium strumarium has been used by Vietnamese in herbal medicines to support medication infirmities. This study consider secondary metabolites, antioxidant and capacities extract from aerial parts (stems leaves) X. (AP-XS). Methods AP-XS was analyzed for presence phytochemicals via qualitative chemical tests determined total polyphenol flavonoid contents. DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) quenching assay sulforhodamine B (SRB) were selected investigate capacity anti-proliferative activity, respectively. Besides, acridine orange-ethidium bromide (AO-EB) dual staining applied evaluate ability induce apoptosis on HepG2 cancer cells. Results present indicated contains main such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins, alkaloids, triterpenes. Ethanol had highest content (84.86 mg gallic acid equivalent/g dry mass), exhibited great property (IC 50 = 184.13 μg/mL) cells 81.69 μg/mL). Furthermore, characteristics including shrinkage cell apoptotic bodies found following 60 h treatment AO-EB staining. Conclusion The data suggest potential effect. considered an association with a rising apoptosis. These results reliable further research source therapeutics.

Phytochemical compositions and biological activities of essential oil from Xanthium strumarium L.

The chemical composition of the essential oil (EO) from fresh cocklebur (Xanthium strumarium L.) leaves was investigated by GC-MS. The antimicrobial activity of the EO was tested against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and fungi. Scolicidal activity was assayed against Echinococcus granulosus protoscolices. In total, 34 compounds were identified, accounting for 98.96% of the EO. The ma...
